Introduction to Quilting
Depending on the class, beginners will make a quilt using The Modern Quilt Workshop by Bill and Weeks Ringle or Quilts by Denyse Schmidt. We will cover key concepts such as color, fabric selection, cutting, stitching, ironing, basting, quilting and binding. Book purchase required.
Introduction to Modern Quilt Design
A great course for beginning or experienced quilters. By the end of the workshop you will have learned the basics of modern quilt design including the influence of scale, negative space, balance and color and draft your own modern quilt. We’ll cover topics like cutting skills, piecing, accuracy and quilting. This class is different than most introductory classes in that you will be designing your own quilt. This is a great class for beginning and experienced quilters that have a pile of scraps, are looking to experiment with modern quilting or have a design in mind.
Flying Geese Quilted Bag
Students will learn the fundamentals of piecing flying geese, tips for working with triangles as well as some beyond beginner bag construction techniques. This bag is great for people who would like to experiment with quilting, but don’t want to commit to an entire quilt.
Piecing Circles Three Ways Wall-hanging
Don’t be afraid, piecing circles is easy! We’ll cover three different ways to piece circles. You will learn traditional curve piecing, 6-minute circles and dimensional circles. The blocks can then be used to make a wall-hanging or start your next quilt.
Easy and Fast Dimensional Circles Pillowtop
Learn this simple and quick piecing technique to create dimensional circles. Using no pins or crazy freezer paper templates, this technique creates beautiful circles with a dimensional effect. The circles are great for showcasing medallion fabrics in your stash. You will learn to draft a block customized to your medallion. We’ll complete one sixteen-inch pillow cover.

Wonky Improv Star Potholders
Learn basic quilting techniques and improv stars in this three hour course. We’ll cover techniques such as cutting, piecing, quilting and binding. Makes two 9-inch square potholders.

Introduction to Straight Line Machine Quilting
Students bring their completed quilt tops and where you will learn techniques and strategies to straight line quilt your quilt. We’ll also cover gentle curves and other non-free motion quilting techniques.
Minimalist Quilt Design
Learn to design and create your own minimalist inspired quilt top. We’ll cover the basics of minimalism in art with a visual review of major minimalist artists such as Frank Stella, Piet Mondrian, Dan Flavin, Donald Judd and others. In addition, we’ll cover influences from minimalist quilters, such as Yoshiko Jinzenji. Using either free form improv or a drafting technique, we’ll design and create minimalist quilt tops.
Modern Traditionalism
Using classic traditional quilt blocks, we’ll use negative space and unique layouts to modernize traditional quilt blocks. We’ll cover the basics of modern quilt composition, including line, color, space and shape.
